Frequently Asked Questions

Convertly uses three methods to attribute sales to creators:
  1. Discount codes (highest confidence) — when a customer uses a creator’s unique code at checkout, the sale is attributed with certainty.
  2. Tracking cookies (medium confidence) — when a customer clicks a creator’s tracking link, a first-party cookie is set. If they purchase within the attribution window (default 30 days), the sale is attributed.
  3. UTM parameters (lower confidence) — URL-based tracking as a fallback.
When multiple methods are present, the highest-confidence signal is used. Discount codes always take priority.
Yes. When creating discount codes in Convertly, you can enter any custom code string you want (e.g., SARAH15, SUMMERLAUNCH, VIP20). The code is synced to your Shopify store automatically. However, discount codes created directly in Shopify admin (outside of Convertly) will not be tracked. You need to create or import them through Convertly for attribution to work.
Creators receive payouts through one of three methods they choose in their Creator Portal settings:
  • PayPal — funds sent to their PayPal email ($25 minimum)
  • Stripe Connect — direct bank deposit ($25 minimum)
  • Store credit — credit on your Shopify store ($10 minimum)
You initiate payouts from the Payouts page in your brand dashboard. When you run a batch, all approved commissions are processed and sent to each creator via their chosen method.
Convertly works with all Shopify plans:
  • Shopify Basic
  • Shopify
  • Shopify Advanced
  • Shopify Plus
The Shopify app uses standard APIs and webhooks that are available on all plans. No Plus-exclusive features are required.
Creator storefronts use Shopify’s App Proxy feature. They appear at URLs like yourstore.com/community/creatorname and are rendered within your store’s theme — using your header, footer, and navigation.Visitors see the creator’s personalized page (bio, hero image, featured products) as a native part of your website. Product links include the creator’s discount code so it auto-applies at checkout.
After the 14-day free trial:
  • If you subscribe to a paid plan, everything continues seamlessly. Your data, campaigns, and creator relationships are preserved.
  • If you do not subscribe, your account enters read-only mode. You can still view all your data, but you cannot create new campaigns, invite creators, or process payouts.
  • Your data is retained for 90 days. You can reactivate at any time during this period by choosing a plan.
